What a beautiful day it was for ANZAC Day - so many years it’s rainy so it was great for the marchers and services to have good weather.

Some interesting facts which you might not know about rosemary: it’s link to ANZAC Day, South Australia, and the reason why it’s worn on the day:

Rosemary has traditionally symbolised love, loyalty, trust, fidelity and remembrance - historically sacred in some cultures, it is used to wish newlyweds luck at weddings, while in some countries it is planted near tombs or used at funerals to honour the dead. It is also believed to enhance memory. The significance of rosemary on ANZAC Day is that it grows wild on the peninsula of Gallipoli where our troops fought in 1915.

A wounded digger from Adelaide was sent home to the Army Hospital at Keswick, in 1915. He brought back with him a small rosemary bush dug up from the ground at ANZAC Cove and it was planted in the hospital grounds.

Cuttings from this original plant called the Gallipoli Rosemary was worn on ANZAC Day for remembrance. It was later grown in nurseries all over Australia.

My daughter works for Whale Watch in Kaikoura, NZ and she loves it. That is a beautiful photo, and it would be wonderful to spot a whale. What type do you get? We went out on the boat at Kaikoura in early March and saw 3 sperm whale. Amazing.
