The Australian Synchrotron is located in Clayton, South-east Melbourne. "At its simplest, it's a giant microscope." But what is it used for?

It smashes particles, it's a million times brighter than the sun and it moves things around nearly at the speed of light. Professor Andrew Peele, the director of the Australian Synchrotron, explains how "the football field-sized microscope" works.
